Each Sunday, I devote my blog to the stories of others who let their Moonlight times inspire them to let the positive blossom from the negative. This week’s story is about 38-year-old mom of five from Las Vegas who is suffering from M.S. She’s asked to remain anonymous. I’m calling her “Angel” here because hers is a story of the true meaning of Christmas and because she served as an Angel for one of her childhood friends this holiday season. Read on to learn about Angel…
On December 22nd, Angel called a friend she’s known since childhood because they always talk around Christmas and birthdays. She asked if her friend was ready for Christmas and the friend told her that they didn’t have even one gift for their 3 children. The friend is disabled and trying for SSDI. Her husband has a heart condition and has been in the hospital so much recently. They are having a hard time buying food, so there was no money for gifts. Because her kids are of mixed races, her parents don’t get them anything either.
Angel found out this all out just three days before Christmas when there was really no time left for her to do anything. She called many churches and charitable organizations in her friend’s area but no one was there on a Saturday afternoon.
So, Angel researched more churches in her friend’s area, and on December 23rd, she called one. It was the first church on the list and the pastor actually answered. He promised to personally deliver food and gift cards to them before Christmas. He was also going to take up a collection during Sunday mass for the family. He didn’t even ask if Angel or her friend were Baptists. To Angel, this is what Christmas is all about.
Sunshine and Moonlight Lessons from Angel:
Maybe having M.S. has made us all more sensitive to the needs of others. So many other people, without M.S. suffer daily. We must remember them regularly.
Interested in submitting a story for O Sole Mio SUNdays? What are the rules? There really aren’t any. I don’t care if your story is long or short. It doesn’t matter what your Moonlight situation was — whether M.S.- related or something else. Submit your stories to me and I’ll post them here. A lot of folks read this blog, so please let me know if you’d like your email address included with your story. Send along a photo if you’d like and I’ll post it, too.
The only request I have is that you make a connection for my readers, explaining how your Moonlight inspired you. Describe the opportunities and the gifts you received from your Moonlight times and find a positive side to your story. Not everyone likes to talk about themselves, so if you have story about a loved one, a friend, someone who inspired you, send me their stories, too. Click here to send Kim YOUR story! And, then be sure to visit Sunshine and Moonlight each Sunday for Ole Sole Mio SUNdays!
What a wonderful thing to remember, no matter what our situation….we can always be a blessing to someone less fortunate at that moment.
